Frequently asked Questions
What does it mean to be an "Associate Marriage and Family Therapist?"
To become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist a clinician must have a Masters degree in the subject and complete 3,000 supervised hours. Prior to completing the Master's Degree a clinician is considered a "trainee". After earning their degree, but before finishing 3,000 supervised hours, the clinician gets a sort of "pre-licensed license" called an Associate number and is considered an Associate. This means that I work under the supervision of a licensed supervisor. You can learn more about her at her website: courtneybrainlmft.com
Do you take insurance?
Currently I am able to accept AETNA and Optum insurances, as well CalVCB. I can also provide you with a Superbill if I am out of network, which you can submit to your insurance company to potentially receive a full or partial refund. I cannot guarantee that your individual insurance company will provide a refund, but many do. I would be happy to discuss with you the pros and cons of paying with insurance compared to private pay.
